A Dream Come True . . . It has been a long awaited dream to begin an educational ministry for our youth to enhance their awareness of the rich Armenian culture and heritage. And, the good news is that we are about to begin here at St. John’s with the Armenian Heritage and Culture Lyceum. Beginning in January 2009, Armenian language, music, art, cuisine and dance will form the content of this special program to be offered on alternate Saturdays, enhanced by instruction in the applied and graphic arts in the Armenian tradition. Under the direction of Deacon Rubik Mailian and a staff of volunteers, classes for children ages 5-14 will be designed and coordinated for a fun day of learning so that our youth will grow to know more deeply who they are as Armenians in the melting pot of America and distinguish themselves among children of other cultures. In November there will be an open house for parents and students. Details of this event and all other information related to this program will be announced soon.
If you share our excitement and would like to join this important initiative of our church, we would like to hear from you. Please contact Deacon Rubik Mailian at the church office or via email:
Very soon, a parish mailing will announce the details of this ambitious educational program. SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, November 15 An Open House will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 so that parents and children may meet the teachers, visit the classrooms and learn more about this exciting program of our parish.
